postheadericon Mudstone=Microfossil Found.

I was think of throwing out this mudstone out because I did not see anything on it.  I kind of put a hold on that and decided  to do another search on it.   A good thing that I did, because I saw this little speicmen just waiting for me to be found ! I took pictures of it at 100x, a video at 100x and a video at 250x. I was glad that I changed my mind on this microfossil.

postheadericon Blog Start Up Report

                                             Blog Start Up Report.

It has been almost 3 weeks now that my blog site is up and running. Yes, I did make some mistakes along the way. I also got email alerts telling me that my site was down. I just changed the theme that day, but I forgot to change my settings. (Change theme=change/add settings.) I was also asked, if I knew my page rank? I said in return ,” Oh, yes, I do. Up in the 100's!” I didn't know what page rank meant? So, later on, I did research on it. I do now what that means to a web site.

I did a Yahoo and a Google search on my web site title, keywords and I found out my page rank. Do “digital pictures of microfossils” and” microfossils pictures” and see what you get on it. I also test, tweak, test and do it again. I have also added pages and pictures to my gallery. I am now working on a short video about finding a small microfossils”BUG”. Well, I going to call it a bug for now.

I will post it later.

postheadericon Ready For Work?

Ready for Work?
Looking for a job? What do I need? Where to go? The list is endless to all who are

getting ready to look for a job. Here is a short list of things needed for that great job

you are looking for.
1. When I was a young man, I was told,”If the “BOSS” catches you at something, make sure

it's your work.”
2. Start on being a professional while in school. How you act and how well you study will

be your professional style later on when you join the work force: ex. late for class

=late for work, misplaced homework= misplaced project files, coffee strains on your

school work= coffee strains on that corporate paper assignments, homework in order does

=your work assignments in order.
3. Start reading up on how others do it. Follow their style on being a professional

worker/leader.
Check out the book stores. Go online. Take notes and remember key points. For someone may

asked you for your input on it.
4. Take notices of the companies that are making the news. Are they the ones you want to

work for. If the news is good, ask yourself,”Can I make it better.” If the news is bad,

then say to yourself, “I can fix that.” Remember, your future “BOSS” is going to ask you

and will want, not wait for an answer for you.
5. Need a Resume.. Yes, you do. Let a professional do that for you. Get all the

information about all the thing you have done over the past years. They will know how to

put it all together.
6. Start at a level you are qualifying for. Go for the entry level ones. Why? Almost

everyone starts at the bottom of the ladder. then, you go up as you gain knowledge and

experiences as a profession worker. Yes, You. Can be a profession worker. Just have to

work at it.
7. Expand your knowledge in all area. Don't limit your expertise to just one area.
You will get assignments at a moments notice and you say “Can Do” or say ”Sorry, I don't

know how to do that” and the “BOSS” will find someone else who will.. Just like that.
8. Get a day planner and use it. Don't forget the pen. Always have one to use. Carry a

small notebook of paper. Write a quick note. Later on, add the details. What? Who? When?
9. Carry all of your needs with you as much as possible. Candy, mints, yes, mints, water,

protein bar,
10. Lap top fully charged up? How about your cell phone. Oh, by the way, how about

yourself?
11 .Listen to what others are saying? Is it good or bad? Is it about the “BOSS?” If the

information is useful, then by all means take it to heart. If, not, walk away, politely.
12. Watch out as to what you say about others, when asked. It maybe a test.
13. Be a team player. Say,” I'm on your team.”
14. Learn to take the lead. Ask the right questions. Better yet, when they say “Any

questions?”You put in all the missing ones that weren't asked. The “Boss” will be

listening.
15. Need to learn something new, well guess what, back to class you need to go.

"Professional Student forever.”
more to follow.

postheadericon No Title to My Name.

                                                                      No Title to My Name.
I started collecting rocks/stones many years ago because they were nice to looked at. In time, I had to many of them on my desk. So, I took some of them and threw them out and that was how it was for me years ago. I am not an expert on fossils or microfossils field. I just read up on fossils and that's it.
When I do find something on any rock/stone, I will look at it and do a step by step breakdown. For example:
Does it have a specific shape(round, square)?
Does it look like a small organism (a rock will look like a rock, sand like sand)?
Does it stand out from the background of the rock/stone ?
Is it in a different color than the background?
I do have several reference books on hand and so far they are not helping me out. When I'm online, I do check out any web sites that has fossils pictures on it. Still, I am not able to see another picture of it there. I don't have an I.D. for them yet and when I do, I will put a name to them. I am just sharing my pictures with all who enjoy collecting fossils.
More pictures added to group # 1. on 3/14/10.

postheadericon Time To Find Microfossils !

It's Time To Find Some Microfossils
Now that winter is almost over with, I have started to look for rocks/stones with cracks or have been split open. Why, because at this time most rocks/stones have the tendency to split in half , due to the cold/warm weather changes. So, now, you would be able to see the inside of a rock/stone without hitting it with a hammer. (see picture below) If you have a rock garden or a landscaping area with rocks/stones, check that area first. Find a couple and view them. Following steps are the ones I follow.
1.Find some rocks/stones or ones that are split open and handle with care
2.View up closely. Examine it, note the shape of it.
3.Do not clean off..Do not use soapy water on it, in fact, do not rinse off.
4. Put into small plastic baggie/container for storage to take back.
5.View under microscope, look around to all areas of the surface
6.When you find one or something, it would be all right to shout out loud.
7.Now, draw a picture of your rock/stone on a 3x5 index card, this way you can remember on which one you saw it. Then, mark the spot with a reference point and draw a small picture of of your find.
8.Reference your find. Ex. M 1, for mudstone # 1, S 1 for specimen # 1, Then, take a picture of it., if able. If not ,you will have a reference of it. For later on when you can.
9.View fossil at different power levels. When doing this and able a take pictures of it. Label each picture with a title ..ex. M 1, S 1a at 50x, M1, S 1b at 100x.
10.On finding a 2rd fossil on the same rock/stone. Do M 1, S 2. see the pattern. Don't forget to mark it and label it.
11.Store your rock/stone in a small plastic baggie/box. Label it M 1, S 1.

Take your time, don't rush. If you have to sneeze, don't sneeze on it. You might blow off a small fossil off.

Also, You may not find one, yet. NO GUARANTEE of finding one  at all.

Store your picture within your computer files, in order to view them later. I hope that these steps help out.
More information coming out later on.

It wasn't long after I got my first computer that I wanted to go to the next level of putting one together. So, I had to do my research on how to do it. I'd checked around with people who knew about it. How did I know about them, well that's all they talked about. They told me to buy some computer magazines and read up up on it. So, I bought some of them to read and find out what I needed to do first.

What I bought from the book store was the “CPU” and “Maximum PC” magazines. Why, these two, well,  due to the information they had inside of them. The information was put plain and simple for all to read up on computers. Each one of the magazines had all kinds articles and showing new products on the market. I needed information on components needed for this project. Also, I was finding out what steps I needed to do , just to get started.

I needed to read up on the steps and how much money I was willing to spent on it. I knew by now that I needed to buy the  following months issues to follow up on this. My budget was getting started and these two magazines was going to take a chuck of it. After checking this out , I knew by subscribing to them, I was going to save a whole lot of money, So, I did put an order in for these 2 magazines.

Go ahead, check the prices out for each magazines. Now check out the price at
Magazines.com, Inc.

See the differences. So, order up to get started and read up on the steps on putting a computer together.

Each one of these magazines will have web site to go to and view their files.
